Besides the crew, guided by the master Ludovico De Filippi, Giovanni Pizzini, the best pilot  of the navy of that time was also on bord. Pizzini's task was to lead the destroyer through mine barriers. At 12.45 p.m. „C.Rossarol“ was  shaked by a strong explosion in dynamo area, anmd split the ship in two, so that the ship sunk in two minutes to the depth ò 50 meters with the majority of the crew. It is supposed that the ship's portside activated the mine on the west edge of the mine field. In 1919, Italian families, not far from the Munat cape erected the monument to remember the dead crew members.

Sea grass Posidonia oceanica
In the Ližnjan submarine area the endemic flowering plant eelgrass (Posidonia oceanica) grows. Posidonia meadows are considered the most important life communities in the coastal area of ther Mediterranean. About 20% of the known Mediterranean species live in posidonia meadows, its meadows are important  areas for the reproduction, growth and shelter to many organisms. Some animals feed themselves with posidonia leaves. Those meadows are the lungs of the sea – enriching the sea with oxygen. Posidonia grows only in the Mediterranea, and nowhere else. In the last decaded the total area covered in posidonia have been reduced by more than 30%, and therefore contribute to the protection on a biodiversity and avoid mooring on posidonia meadows.
